Uusi Jazzi Klubi was originally founded in 2017, as the brainchild of Antti and Aleksi. The main idea was to perform live improvised music without any limits. The first clubs were originally held at Sir Oliver (in Merihaka, Helsinki) and while the reception was good the place was not optimally suitable for the concept. After a few months' break UJK found a new, hazier location for the club at Auttamo (Sturenkatu 7, Helsinki) in the autumn of 2018. A good amount of successful events were arranged at Auttamo and the audience was plenty. The good times lasted till the early 2020, when UJK was forced to move out again. This time the silence of UJK didn’t last long. The new, even better headquarters of the club was founded at QUERQ ry (Nilsiänkatu 10, Helsinki) in September 2020. And ever since that regular clubs have been held there on Fridays every now and then. With a longer break during the summer of course. We play improvised music with our hearts involved! We organize our events responsibly! We stand by equality and human rights! We serve tasty, nutritious vegetarian food!
